Purpose:

To enrich the lives and spirit of our people,
by inspiring our community of students
to take responsibility for developing their potential and
for contributing to local and global society

Core Values and Beliefs

We believe:

All people are to be given the hope, guidance, and opportunity for life long learning.

In the value and uniqueness of each of our students and strive to assist them to attain their
educational, professional, and personal goals.

In creating a positive learning environment that is culturally responsive and inspiring to our students.

In the commitment of open and free forums where ideas are discussed in an environment of  mutual respect and intellectual integrity.

In being responsive to the local, regional, and statewide needs, including open access to all our education programs.

In the appreciation of the unique environment of the Northwest Arctic Region as a natural laboratory for the study of questions and issues to gain a better understanding between our local and global communities.

In furthering the traditions and values of the Inupiaq culture and language.

Vivid Description

New, well-maintained state of the art, energy efficient facility equipped with the latest technology and classrooms, lounge, dorm, gym, library and offices.

Local graduates fill the majority of professional vacancies in the region.

New programs are offered to respond to the needs of students i.e., nursing, math, science, and language arts as well as adult continuing education, RAHI, Upward Bound, vocational, traditional/cultural values, native arts and language.

Chukchi works in conjunction with the tribal college for partnership in regional higher education.

We recruit students as role models and publicly recognize achievement and success of our students beyond graduation.

Students are involved with decision making about regional higher education.

We have a strong emphasis on individualized instruction, incorporating collaboration among students, faculty, residents and agencies.

Chukchi Campus has academic and career advising and financial aid assistance for part time as well as full time students.

Local and regional businesses support Chukchi with faculty adjuncts and funding.

Enrollment has increased to 600 students per year.

Faculty includes eight full-time instructors and a pool of adjuncts to offer 30 courses per year locally.

An active alumni association is in place that meets regularly, generates local support, sends its children to Chukchi, and recruits on behalf of the college.

Chukchi logo exists to increase awareness of college and strengthen identity.

Our formalized education consortium established  between Chukchi, Northwest Arctic Borough School District, and Alaska Technical Center broadens academic and vocational programs.

Each village is supported by the education consortium in the form of learning centers for high school students and adults.

Chukchi brings in $ 1 million per  year over five years for expanded programming and infrastructure.

Chukchi has a new name to strengthen identity.
